Being one of the greatest Hindu epics, each character in the Mahabharata has something to teach us. Lord Krishna, the avatar of Lord Vishnu, used every unfair trick in the book to win the war. His lies and tricks did win the war in favor of the Pandavas, but they lost too much in the bargain. The philosophical portions in the Mahabharata apart from the Bhagavad-Gita and the Anu-Gita are the Sanatsujatiya and moksha-dharma. The ancient system of political administration under the directing principle of dharma finds elaborate elucidation in the Raja dharma section of the Santi Parva in the Mahabharata. It is said that in the Mahabharata one can find every kind of man and every kind of situation, and it is not far from the truth.
